- These 50w GU10 Halogen Reptile Basking Bulbs work well with our Reptile T5HO UVB + GU10 Basking Light Fixtures. The GU10’s compact size and efficiency enables mounting the streamlined fixture underneath the top screen mesh.
- Selecting the wattage of the GU10 Halogen Reptile Basking Bulb determines the surface temperature of the basking spot. For example, we aim for 110-120 degrees with bearded dragons as measured with an IR Surface Temp Thermometer on a basking rock. Which wattage depends on several factors; the terrarium height and size, the ambient room temperature and in some locations, the season (summer/winter).
- Whichever wattage is selected should be checked initially with a surface temp thermometer, and seasonally verified. A 20L should take a 50w or 35w, 36x18x18 start with a 75w, 36x18x24 a 75w and a 50w, 48x18x18 start with a 75w, 48x18x24 a 75w and a 50w or another 75w, 48x24x18 a 75w and a 50w, 48x24x24 two 75w’s. A fixture with a second basking socket gives the flexibility of fine-tuning or seasonally adjusting by adding another bulb.
