It provides a protective layer that has antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. It is great at moisturizing dry skin, including in people with conditions such as eczema. Distilled Water attracts hydration to the skin. Lye also known as Sodium Hydroxide is a necessary cleansing agent that turns these oil and butters into actual soap.
